Did God Really Say That?

Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
When we know what God says, then we can be confident to say it too! The enemy doesn’t want you to be in agreement with God’s words, and he certainly doesn’t want you to speak them out loud! There are some who say they believe the Word, but the words they speak are just the opposite: doubt and unbelief!
The enemy of God and all of his cohorts like to place doubts in our minds and hearts. Satan knows that if we believe what God says, and we say it because we believe it in our heart, his works become defeated and powerless.
It was his first trick with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. His strategy is the same today. See how Satan questions God’s authority, truthfulness and intentions in Genesis 3:3.
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat from the trees in the garden, but God did say, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.”
“You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
We are no threat to the kingdom of darkness if we don’t know the word, stand on it and speak it out. Notice how the serpent questioned Eve to see if she really knew what God had said? This is the point at which many are snared already because they don’t really know what the scriptures say! When she remembered just what God had said, then he knew he had to use another angle. So the crafty serpent tried to twist the truth. He basically was saying to Eve, “Ok, maybe he did say that, but He really didn’t mean it. He is just trying to trick you and keep you from what is yours. God doesn’t want you to be as wise as Him so go ahead and take a bite.” In other words, “Don’t trust in what God says, trust in your own logic and feelings. Besides, you know what you need better than God does.”
Satan still uses the same lies today. When we don’t take God at His Word, it’s as if we are saying to God; “I can handle this by myself. I don’t completely trust You and Your word.” When someone lives this way, every promise in God’s word will easily be stolen away!
That’s why it is so important to know what God says about healing, provision, and salvation. When all we have heard are other folks opinions or slants of what they believe God’s word says, then we are relying on second -hand information. Second hand information is never as good as first hand! Man is always prone to error. That’s why it is so important to read and study the word of God first hand for ourselves. God is never prone to error! We can rely on the Holy Spirit to teach us and show us truth as we read the Bible. We can take Him at His word. He and His word are flawless!
So many pray the sinner’s prayer and go to church, but when asked are they sure they are on their way to heaven, they hesitate. They have a fear of death because they are not confident in their salvation. This should never be. Some are not sure if it’s God’s will to heal everyone so they have no confidence to receive the healing that belongs to every child of God. Those who struggle financially year after year don’t realize that God has provided better for them. They settle for the lie that this is just their lot in life, to never get out of the hole that just gets deeper.
It’s just like the Garden of Eden, “Did God really say…?” When we hear these words in our minds or from those around us who doubt, we can boldly say -- “Yes He did! Yes, God said I am saved, healed and blessed according to His written and spoken word! I am His child so all these things belong to me!”
It is always good to find two or three scriptures that apply to your situation. Learn these scriptures, speak them out loud, and stand firm upon them! When you say what you believe in your heart, you’re putting your faith into action. Any mountain will move for you! I have heard this saying for years: “Say it ‘till you see it,” and I believe it!
I have also heard the faith critics call people who talk this way the “blab it and grab it group” or the “hyper-faith crowd.” Well, that’s sure better than being the “doubt it and do without it bunch!” Amen? I can bet that these poor folks let the enemy take whatever he wants from them.
Not me! Obviously, Jesus thought it was an important thing to believe the Truth and then speak it out. He thought it was an important step in our walk of faith to say what we believe. Did Jesus really say that? Yes He did, and I am standing on His words!
Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Mathew 21:21 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask in prayer.’”
