Hide & Seek Part III

First Things First

Worship
Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

When it comes to doing things in the proper order, there are times I bend the rules a bit. You see, sometimes I would rather have dessert before dinner, and sometimes I do! But when it comes to assembling something like a bike, for instance, I don’t have a choice in the matter. It’s important that I complete step one before I complete step two if I want a bike that I can ride when I’m finished! It’s the same with our lives. To be truly successful, we have to get our priorities in the right order.

There are so many things we desire and seek after in this life. Not all of those things are wrong or sinful. We seek after a loving, committed relationship with another, higher education and a career so we can be financially secure. The truth is that our Heavenly Father wants us to have all of these things and more.

III John 2 says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

God desires that we prosper in all things, and He has made the way for us to do so if we will just seek him first and foremost. We so easily get our eyes on our goals and the desires of life and take our eyes off of Him. It’s all about relationship with the Father, who is the source of our blessings, rather than the blessings themselves. If we put Him first, He has promised to take care of us:

Psalm 34:10 reads, “…those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.”

Our God is so good to us! If we seek the Lord above anything else, there will be nothing that we lack! Seeking Him first will affect our loved ones as well:

I Chron. 28:8 says, ”…be careful to seek out all the commandments of the Lord your God that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance for your children after you forever.”

When you choose to put God first, it will bless you now but it will also leave a legacy of blessing, spiritually and materially, for your children, your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren!

Psalm 63:1: “Oh God you are my God. Early I will seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.”
